Our Story

DynamiCare Health is a digital therapeutics and coaching company that helps people overcome addiction to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. Centered around motivation and accountability, DynamiCare challenges and empowers individuals to change their lives for the better. 

DynamiCare Health was founded in 2016 in Boston, Massachusetts by Eric Gastfriend, Harvard MBA tech executive, and his father, David Gastfriend MD, an international expert in addiction psychiatry. DynamiCare has raised over $6 million in equity funding, $5 million in grants/prizes, and is used by treatment programs, academic research institutions, and health plans across the U.S. DynamiCare's partners include Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Vermont Medicaid, ComPsych, Spring Health, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and University of Vermont, among others. 

DynamiCare’s mission is to build evidence-based products and services to help one million people overcome addiction.

DynamiCare's innovative work has been recognized through numerous grants and awards, including 4 NIH grants, the Ohio Opioid Technology Challenge, the 2020 Anthem Fast Track to Scale Accelerator, the 2018 Harvard Business School Alumni New Venture Competition, and a 2019 New York Times Good Tech Award. DynamiCare has been featured by various news outlets, including the NY Times, WSJ, Washington Post, Boston Globe, and CBS News.

CEO

Kelley Bowker, MBA

Kelley Bowker, MBA, is the CEO of DynamiCare Health, a digital health company using behavioral science and contingency management to help individuals overcome addiction. Since becoming CEO in 2023, he has led the company through significant growth, operational sustainability, and expansion into new markets. Previously as VP of Growth, he built strategic partnerships and secured major government contracts. With over a decade in healthcare technology and sales, Kelley has held leadership roles at CHESS Health, Net Health, and Waystar. He holds a BS in Business and Ethics and an MBA from Western Governors University.

 

Co-Founder & Chief Medical Officer

David Gastfriend, MD, DFASAM

An addiction psychiatrist, Dr. Gastfriend has held clinical, research, technology development, and policy roles. At Harvard, he directed Massachusetts General Hospital’s Addiction Research Program. As VP at Alkermes, he directed scientific communications on Vivitrol. His research led most U.S. states to endorse the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria. His 150 publications include The ASAM Criteria and Addiction Treatment Matching. His ASAM Criteria CONTINUUM® software is being adopted nationwide. He has consulted to the governments of Belgium, China, Iceland, Israel, Norway, Russia, and the US.
